Marijke van Eerd MMedSc, BSc, RN, RN(child), PGCE
Marijke works as a paediatric advanced clinical practitioner in the children and young people’s emergency department at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. She is a member of the ALSG APLS and CYP APEx working group and has a special interest in paediatric major trauma and paediatric mental health. She is active as an APLS instructor and director, ALS, ETC, GIC, and CYP APEx facilitator course. She has been a speaker at the Pediatric Trauma Society in Portland, Oregon where she presented her paediatric trauma checklist and at the 1st World Congress for Pediatric Emergency medicine at São Paolo in Brazil she presented her research about the experience of transgender children and young people in the emergency department as well as being a panellist for sudden cardiac death and non accidental injuries.
She is involved with the Joe Humphries Memorial Trust charity and teaches CPR and AED awareness in the community, with a focus on sports coaches and you g athletes.
She has previously worked as a resuscitation matron and paediatric resuscitation officer and has led projects for trauma competencies in the emergency department. She has 30+ years experience as both an adult and paediatric emergency nurse. With a colleague ACP she has developed a teaching programme in the emergency department that has led to various quality improvement projects and audits and has contributed to an improvement in staff confidence and patient safety.
In her spare time she runs, bakes and sings in a choir. She loves travelling.
