Course Overview

Emergency Practical Skills Course: Essential Procedures for Acute Care

This practical, one-day workshop is aligned with the 2021 RCEM Curriculum and is specifically designed to support clinicians in achieving Specialty Learning Outcome (SLO) 6: ‘Proficiently deliver key procedural skills needed in Emergency Medicine’. The course provides structured, hands-on experience in emergency procedures that are time-critical, life- or limb-saving, and occasionally performed for the first time in practice after training.

Why this course matters

SLO 6 recognises that Emergency Medicine physicians must be able to perform essential procedural skills, even when these are rare or high-stakes. This course enhances clinical readiness and ensures participants are prepared to deliver these skills confidently and safely.
